Active Birth Couples Workshop

Recommended from 34 – 37 weeks

This session is designed to be complimentary to your anti natal classes, the focus is on managing the intensity of labor and how to providing loving and practical support as a birthing companion.

Gwyneth draws on her many years of experience teaching Hypnobirthing, Pregnancy Yoga and her studies in childbirth education.

You will learn:

  • How to cultivate confidence and trust as you prepare for birth and during labour
  • How to create a nurturing and safe environment at home and in hospital
  • Natural pain relief massage techniques
  • Breathing and Relaxation techniques to help release fear and stress during labour
  • The benefits to being active in labour
  • you will also practise favourable positions and movements to help make labour more effective and easier to manage
  • You will deepen your understanding of what is happening with your Mind and Body during Labour
  • You will feel empowered and excited after this session, fully prepared for the amazing journey of bringing your baby into this world in the most loving and gentle way possible

Pregnancy Yoga

Pregnancy is a time of transition in our lives, when many new changes and experiences arise, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Yoga offers you an opportunity help yourself manage these changes and prepare for the birth of your baby.

Gwyneth is an experienced yoga teacher who is also trained in Childbirth Education and Hypno~Birthing whos style offers a wonderful balance of flow stretches to release tension in the body, strengthening poses to prepare your body for birth, breathing and relaxation for calming your mind and nervous system.

Women learn how to soften and surrender with a deep inward focus on breathing, connecting your mind with your body and baby.

Hi Gwyneth,
Thank you for helping me to prepare for the birth of our beautiful son Jaden. I was very fortunate to have a really positive birth experience, and i believe that your yoga classes helped contribute to this. I was able to have a completely natural birth with no drugs so Jaden was born alert and ready to suck straight away! My birth was relatively quick, and i think this was due to the techniques you taught me during your classes that helped speed things along. I could hear your voice throughout my contractions saying to 'let go' and to 'breathe' through the pain and i did this with my husband cheering me on and lots of concentration. I was able to visualise my cervix opening up and my body naturally doing what it needed to do to help my baby along. I think it was when i really embraced each strong contraction with a deep breath, rather than being tense, i started to really progress and the next thing i knew it was time to push him out!

Skye Jones – 2014

I wanted to let you know that last week (at 41 weeks) I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy we have named Xavier Mark Alexander Jones. He weighed 8lb 1.5oz (3.670 kg) and is 54 cm in length.

So far he is a very content baby - Finger's crossed it continues that way!

Thanks again for ensuring he had a calm and relaxed mum throughout the pregnancy. No doubt it assisted me in labour and is reflective in his personality now.

I attended Gwyneth's yoga class from early on in pregnancy and I enjoyed the peace it provided so much that I usually tried to attend twice a week. Gwenyth has such an amazing welcoming spirit and beautiful energy that I knew I wanted to bring my partner along to the Active birth session so that he could be on the same page as me and we could continue to grow as a team. I was able to have a natural birth at the Cairns Private Hospital.


About 8 to 10 weeks after our beautiful son Zephyr was born I began to attend Gwenyth's mum and bub yoga classes, what a treat! It was a great chance to meet other new mom's in the area, to take time for myself and spend time with my baby. I attended classes until Zephyr became mobile around 6 months.


Now I attend Gwyenth's monthly wellbeing classes and they are always a welcome pleasure. She take such care in making sure that we all feel amazing and I look forward to returning each month.

When we found out we was pregnant, I knew straight away that I wanted to do pregnancy yoga and I had heard of HypnoBirthing and wanted to find out more information about it, so I did some more research and that’s when I came across Gwyneth at Body Mind and Breath Centre
I started pregnancy yoga as soon as I could; around 13 weeks. From the first class I was hooked, it was a time where every week I could take some time for me and really connect with my beautiful growing baby inside me. I always felt so much better afterwards, relaxed both in the mind and body and the stretches really helped with my ever changing body and growing belly.
I also did the 5 week HypnoBirthing course and it was fantastic! It helped me focus on the birth that I wanted, it helped release fears that I had about the birth (fears other people had put on me) it taught me how to truly relax and go within and gave me the confidence that birth can and is a natural event and that it can be pain free and a beautiful experience. It also gave my partner the confidence of knowing what he could do to support and help during the birth.
The yoga and HypnoBirthing classes and all the practicing paid off as I had the most amazing birth! It was everything I had wished for and more; there was no such thing as pain or fear, just complete relaxation, excitement and joy. It was the most amazing experience of my life and I will defiantly be doing it ALL again next time! We are so grateful to Gwyneth for giving us the tools to have the birth of our dreams! Thank you.

I wanted to firstly let you know I had a little girl on Friday. Chelsea Paige. She was born at 38+2.

I wanted to thank you for all your help and let you know the impact it had in my labour story.

I started very early labour at 4am Thursday morning. I stayed home by myself and managed the contractions with breathing and relaxation. At 3pm we went into the hospital because there were some concerns she wasn't moving as much. All was good and I was sent him to labour.

At home we used all the strategies you taught us, the exercise ball, positions, postures, walking, massage, showers. But the main thing was breathing. My husband used all the information you taught him to support me. So much so that he encouraged me to stay at home until 2pm. We went to the hospital then and I was 8cm dilated so Dr Wright was called and she was born at 4:30am using only has for pain relief. Again I felt during pushing your breathing got me through.

So just wanted to share that with you and thank you and let you know the impact your work has.

I hope to see you in the future for mums and bubs yoga!
